Read their story on how they met and created an incredible final result filled with joy and love.
Tell us the story of how you two met.
We’ve been family friends and then best friends for almost 15 years now, growing up in a small village in New Zealand, our relationship felt very normal and natural from the beginning. We have completely different personalities, however our goals and values have always aligned. Our turning point was towards the end of University having been doing long distance for a while, we came back together and knew we’d never want to be apart again.
What made you decide that this was the right person to be with for the rest of your life?
Annabel: Hard to pinpoint a moment. I guess it happened over time without us even realising it. Lots of time spent together going through the motions of life and realising that you would not want to spend those moments with anyone else. It was always him.
Sam: Time.
What do you enjoy most about each other’s company?
It’s peaceful and effortless. The chats!
How was your experience with Baker Boys Band?
Absolutely incredible. From start to end it was so easy, the service was consistent, detailed and helpful. We had a duo of strings at our ceremony and a 4 piece band at reception and both were exceptional. We had guests coming up to us all night saying they were fantastic and the fact that we were still on the dance floor in the rain (outdoor wedding) shows how good the Baker Boys Band really are! Hire them, they will be the best vendor you deal with.
What was your favourite song you danced to at your wedding?
They were all so good. The dance floor was full all night and we remember the next day our legs were aching from dancing so hard!
Share one special memory from your wedding with us.
I came out from Gardens House to see Sam wielding a cowbell above his head on the dance floor, madly banging away with the biggest grin on his face and a circle of our friends and family clapping away. You made his night with “More Cowbell”.
Do you have any advice for couples as they plan for their wedding?
Heads up, you’re not going to please everyone and that’s ok! It is so important that the day is a reflection of both your personalities and what marriage means to you. It is ok to pick and choose traditions or to not follow any at all!
